Performing an oil analysis is a convenient method of assessing the condition of an engine by examining its oil composition. Our standard analysis includes a Spectral Exam, which identifies the amount of wear metals, silicon, and additives in the oil, and checks for coolant. To determine the source of these elements, refer to the Report Explanation & page. Additionally, our analysis measures viscosity, quantifies the percentage of solids with insolubles, and determines the flashpoint of the oil. A lower-than-expected flashpoint may indicate the presence of a contaminant, such as fuel, or moisture contamination.
