Detroit Diesel 7SE298 Coolant
5 products
Extended Life Coolant (ELC) contains Organic Acid Technology (OAT), which provides corrosion protection and inhibits liner cavitation.
To maintain their effectiveness over the life of an engine, coolants should be mixed at a 50% concentration.
ELC coolants meet or exceed Detroit 93K217 specs. Those specs require that ELCs be free of nitrites and phosphates.
Detroit has found that nitrite-containing engine lubricating compounds may lead to the breakdown of coolant and damage for the cooling system.
Because they are different, the two types of coolants should never be mixed.
Mixing ELC and SLC antifreeze coolants may not cause immediate damage, but will result in the loss of long-term advantages offered by the ELC.
A coolant that is formulated to meet or exceed Detroit 93K217 specification also meets the more general requirements for vehicle cooling systems.
Equivalents, replacements and cross references are provided as a guide. Please refer to user manual to determine exact specification needed.
