Propylene Glycol (PG) heat transfer fluids are synthetic-based oils intended for use in heating and secondary cooling systems as well as various deicing, defrosting, and dehumidifying applications. These widely applicable fluids provide the benefits of other glycol-based heat transfer fluids while decidedly lowering the toxicity. They are an environmentally friendly alternative to other types of Heat Transfer fluids.
These fluids have exceptional thermal stability and minimize the potential for boil-overs and freeze-up damage. Additionally, these fluids protect against corrosion and have long service lives.
Some of the applications that Propylene Glycol (PG) Heat Transfer Fluids are appropriate for are solar heating systems, secondary loop refrigeration, ground source heat pumps, thermal energy storage, fire sprinkler systems, and as a general antifreeze/coolant.
Heat transfer fluid formulation of propylene designed package of industrial corrosion inhibitors. The fluid is dyed pink for leak detection. This product is preferred for use where low toxicity is desired. Recommended use temperature range -60 degrees F- 250 degrees F. Suitable applications: closed- loop, water-based, HUAC, process heating and cooling.
What Is Propylene Glycol?
Propylene glycol is a synthetic liquid substance that absorbs water. Propylene glycol is also used to make polyester compounds and as a base for de-icing solutions. Propylene glycol is used by the chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries as an antifreeze when leakage might lead to contact with food. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified propylene glycol as an additive that is generally recognized as safe for use in food.
